The Ultimate Question

The girls were part of a summer Christian Musical that just wrapped us this past week. For the last 9 weeks, they have been practicing singing, dancing, and acting every Tuesday night at our favorite dance studio.
.
The Ultimate Question was a Musical in a Game Show Setting. There were contestants, a host and the Ultimate dancers and Ultimate Singers that the contestant could use as lifelines. Questions were from the Bible and they all "ultimately" pointed towards who God says we are to him.
.
Miss M had the lead acting role as the Game Show Host. She had her lines memorized including all the jokes and one liners a month ago and had no stage fright whatsoever. Where this girl gets her poise and calm before a crowd I do not know. She was excellent. At one of the performances, an elderly lady who had been sitting in the back of the room came up to compliment M on her clear pronunciation of the words and great stage presence. She really rocked the part.
.
Miss A was an Ultimate Dancer. She loved dancing again. She not only had all her dance moves memorized, but those of the Ultimate Singers, too. At the performance, she looked a little nervous on stage and it took a little while for her to warm up to the crowd, but she did an excellent job. It was fun to see her on a dance stage again. While she's committed to soccer again this fall and spring, I'm sure that she'll be joining the dancers again next summer.
.
The first performance was at a Retirement Center for Active Seniors and nearly 60 residents showed up for the Saturday afternoon showing. Their faces and participation showed how much they enjoyed the performance. They clapped and laughed at all the right times and, afterwards, the girls went out into the audience to shake hands/give hugs. Even Miss A and her shy self got into the action.
.
Next, the performance moved to the Dance Studio for parents/grandparents and guests. Again, they really shined and Miss A seemed a little more relaxed singing along to the music when she wasn't dancing.
.
Finally, we performed on Tuesday evening for a Christan after school program in the inner city. In many ways, this performance really gave the performers a chance to step out in faith. The kids in the audience loved it and, afterwards, had many questions for the performers.
.
The most profound moment, however, was one I missed. One of the girls at the Tuesday performance asked the girls if they could tell them anything about God what would it be. One of the dancers spoke up quickly and said that "God loved them so much that he sent Jesus to die on the cross to save them from their sins." Perfect answer.
.
Later, my husband went up to the girl in audience and told her that there was more to the story. He told her the "if she was the only person on earth, Jesus still would have come and died on the cross just for her."
.
Ultimately, isn't that the message we all need to hear.
